Fire Safety

Please take note of our Fire Safety when visiting the Surgery.

IF YOU DISCOVER A FIRE (NO MATTER HOW SMALL):

  1. Raise the alarm verbally and operate the nearest break glass point. The receptionist working on the front desk will telephone 999 for the emergency services.
  2. Tackle the fire with the nearest appropriate extinguisher but only if you have been trained and it is safe to do so.
  3. Leave the building by the nearest exit and report to the Fire Assembly Point in the main patient car park and remain there until advised by the person in charge.
  4. When leaving the building close doors and windows behind you if safe to do so.

DO NOT PUT YOURSELF AT RISK IN ANY SITUATION

UPON HEARING THE FIRE ALARM:

  1. Leave the building by the nearest exit and report to the Fire Assembly Point in the main patient car park and remain there until advised by the person in charge.
  2. When leaving the building close doors and windows behind if safe to do so.
  3. The receptionist working on the front desk will telephone 999 for the emergency services.

THE PERSON IN CHARGE WILL:

  1. Ensure the emergency services are contacted.
  2. Identify the location and the extent of the fire.
  3. Ensure the safe evacuation of patients where appropriate.
  4. Liaise with the Fire Service on their arrival who will advise when it is safe to return into the building.
