Foreign travel is easier than ever but it can be hazardous to your health. Travel companies will often only mention the minimum or compulsory requirements which can be inadequate. Remember, prevention is better than cure – we can advise on appropriate vaccinations to protect you while you’re abroad.
Plan at least 6 – 8 weeks in advance – some courses of vaccination are this long. The more exotic the holiday location the sooner you should make arrangements to have vaccinations.
Visit Fitfortravel to find out more information about countries and vaccinations required.
If you wish to have your vaccinations done here at the surgery then you will need to complete a Travel Risk Assessment Form, which you can download or pick up from Reception. Once you have handed in your completed form you can then make an appointment with a Practice Nurse to discuss your travel arrangements.
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
