Our Doctors and Pharmacists

Dr Ruth King

Primary qualifications: MA, MB ChB, MRCGP, DRCOG, DFFP

Ruth qualified in Bristol in 1995. She has worked In Bristol, Cheshire and Australia. She joined the practice in Ross in 2003. She works part-time and enjoys all aspects of general Practice with a particular interest in Women’s Health. She is a Surgery Partner.  Ruth is married to Hugh and has three children.

Dr Sue Das

Primary qualifications:

 MBBS, MD, DFSRH, MRCGP

Sue joined Pendeen in 2007 as a registrar and has been here since. She trained for undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Christian Medical College in Vellore, India, and did her General Practice training in the West Midlands. Sue has worked in Christian mission hospitals in various parts of India and also worked in Saudi Arabia.  She is a GP trainer.  She is married with two daughters and has a feisty Westie.

Dr Emily Jackson

Primary qualifications:

 MB ChB, MRCGP

Emily qualified in Leicester in 2005 and after her foundation jobs had a year in Lincoln training to be a surgeon before a change of heart and direction, moving to Herefordshire in 2008 to start her General Practice training. She qualified as a GP in 2011 and has since done a postgraduate diploma in Dermatology and continues to have an interest in this area. In her spare time Emily enjoys hill walking, swimming and returns to her childhood pastimes of playing the piano and dancing.

Dr Michael Thurgood

Primary qualifications: MBBch (Wales 1991) DRCOG. FRCGP.

Dr Thurgood was born in Gloucestershire. He completed general practice training in Hereford and then worked as a full time partner in general practice in Cwmbran for 21 years. He joined Pendeen Surgery as a salaried GP in 2022.
He is a GP trainer and an examiner for the Royal College of General Practitioners.
His medical interests are medical education (including writing educational material for RCGP online learning), asthma, heart disease and primary care minor surgery.

Dr Rachel Boughen

Primary qualifications: MBChB, MRCGP, Diploma in clinical Psychiatry

Dr Boughen joined the Practice in the autumn of 2021 as Salaried GP and GP trainer.  She qualified from Bristol in 2009, before completing her GP training in Hereford. She has an interest in mental health and is completing a diploma in clinical psychiatry. She is married with two school age children and enjoys sewing and walking when she gets the chance.

Andrew joined the Pendeen Team in May 2017 as our Prescribing Pharmacist.

Our Nurse Team

Our Practice Nurses are all Registered General Nurses (RGNs)  with additional qualifications. They run specialist clinics at the Surgery for chronic disease management and also have appointments for smears, vaccinations, ECGs, blood tests and blood pressure checks.

All of our Health Care Assistants are trained and qualified to provide NHS Health Checks, Phlebotomy, Blood Pressure checks, ECG’s, Diabetic Foot checks and some injections.
