The flu virus changes over time. A new and unique immunisation is produced each year. We place an order in January and they are delivered in October. We therefore offer flu jabs from mid-October to December. The groups that are recommended for immunisation every year now include:
- Everyone over 65
- Chronic chest disease including asthma if on regular inhaled steroids
- Chronic heart disease including Ischaemic Heart Disease
- Chronic renal or liver disease
- Diabetics
- Pregnant women
- Everyone in long-stay residential care
- The main carer of an elderly or disabled person
Phone Pendeen Surgery on 01989 763535 from mid-September onwards and make an appointment for one of our Flu Clinics. Some are held on a Saturday.
Pneumococcal Immunisation to help prevent certain types of chest infection can be given at the same time but is only needed once in a lifetime. Ask for it only if you have never had it before and keep a note of having had it.
